A brand new house created within the existing besser block wall footprint.
Our clients came to us for advice on how to upgrade a typical 1960s coastal house with noncompliant ceiling levels. They loved the fact that the house was made out of besser block, a solid building material typical for the time, and wanted to try to retain as much of the existing fabric as possible to save it ending up in landfill. By demolishing the dilapidated asbestos-laden roof and rebuilding a roof with a series of exposed trusses over the opened planned kitchen-living-dining area, we were able to create a bespoke new house within its existing walls. The result being a large lofty multi-use space perfect for entertaining and gathering the family together over the holiday periods throughout the year.
